My lack of Blogging!
Haven’t blogged in ages! I have just stated my university studies in London (SGUL).
Since my last blog we have had a new Labour leader, I have been to conference, and we have had Osbourne announce the most outrageous and unfair cut the UK has ever seen!…
After todays NUS march and the violence that unravelled outside Tory HQ (I was a there!) I think we are going to be seeing many more desperate outcries taking us back to 68!

Labour Leadership
I realise that I have not blogged for a long while, no recent political rants about usual day to day conservative cock ups. For this I am sorry!! Haha I am sure I will get back on track soon.
This morning I watched the Labour Leadership debate on sky news and I realised that later this month when party conferences season begins, things are going to start to get interesting. My immediate troubles lie in the ballot paper on my bedroom floor. I do not know where to start!
Should I go with David Miliband? I am pretty confident that he would stand up in the commons and win arguments putting the conservative liberal cuts to shame. Is he going to expose them for what they are? Simply doing what conservatives do best and shrinking the state so Labour have to build it up again in 5 years. But is he radical enough and is he going to be implemented in the torture enquiry the Tories have set up.
Then there is the two Ed s… Both of which I like and they really seem to like each other… All I seemed to hear this morning was “I agree with Ed” and “Like Ed I…” But Ed Balls has a very unfortunate name and as my father puts it, comes across geekie, even though to me he is very genuine!
Ed Miliband has good left policies in line with my own views ideas like a “living wage” which could bring many people out of poverty. Even though I don’t like the idea of a graduation tax because I fear one will not be able to opt out of it!… And I also believe that graduates will just leave the country. I mean it is hard enough to get a mortgage, and why break the link between the university and the student.
At the moment I think Diane Abbott will get my 1st preference. She seems popular and she speaks well but can she stand up opposite Cameron and put him where he belongs? I fear not… But I hope I am proved wrong. She has strong views on Immigration and understands the mess of the system but also understands how easy it is to blame immigrants. She speaks out against our illegal invasion of Iraq but I find her slightly insensitive when so many peoples life’s have been lost, as though they have been lost for nothing at all. She also speaks out against Trident which I think is progressive. We need to set an example to the world we never want to go back to the threats and fear of the cold war, not that I was alive.
As for Andy Burnham, I don’t think it is his turn yet he does quite have the substance needed in his arguments.
I hope whatever happens the party reforms much stronger. I hope Labour MP start a massive operation to go out to the Electorate and listen to people so they can build policy from the “bottom up”. This is so important.
We then need a credible alternative to deficit reduction. This is the most difficult task and we need to keep it relatively simple and also get backing from business leaders and economic gurus. How do you cut the public sector… But boost jobs in the private sector at the same time?
We also need much more housing… Maybe we should set aside 6 billion now ring fenced?
The list is endless! Let’s hope they get it right.

Britain scraps annual assessment of human rights abuses across the world | Law | The Observer
I find this VERY worrying!… That the government has sent the clearest message out yet, that it values economic strength and trade above human rights and lives of those less fortunate that us. I understand the importance of promoting trade with the UK at this time… so why not have a report every 18 months then you can concentrate more staff on promoting trade while showing the world that the UK is still very much committed to clear violations of human rights across the world.

This is what I have been saying for such a long time… In principal, but I do still believe that I would cost too much to do in this sinking economic climate… But this is why Diane Abbott gets my vote!
